Whether you are traveling with your family…
Or you are vacationing with friends, or looking to find a little time out on your own, Michigan awaits your arrival. From the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes in the north to Henry Ford Museum in the south, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
The Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes National Lakeshore
If you love the beach and you love adventure then head over to the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes. Climb the dunes, enjoy the view from the top, then run back down and head over to the nearby lakeshore for a day of fun. There are campgrounds and plenty of lodging options nearby, in case you decide to stay for a few days. Also, check out nearby Glen Arbor for some fresh seafood and shopping at the Cherry Republic.
Leelanau Wine Tours
As you are heading back from your day at the Dunes, slide on over to the Leelanau peninsula and experience some of the region’s best wine. The climate here is comparable to some of the best wine growing regions in France and Italy. 26 wineries are available and open for exploration. Whether you are seeking to sample the wine or tour the facility, you will find a plethora of options awaiting you. From Leelanau Wine Cellars to Ciccone Vineyard & Winery (the vineyard that belongs to Madonna’s family), you will not be disappointed in the wines.
Traverse City is a great place for families, for a weekend getaway with friends, for a golf outing, or a spot to kick back and relax on the beach. It does not matter what time of year you visit, there is always something going on in Traverse. Special events that are big draws to the city include the Annual Cherry Festival and the Annual Film Festival, both are noteworthy events worth checking out.
The Henry Ford Museum
Located in Dearborn, Michigan, this is the place to go if you have an automobile buff in the family. Here you can see the history of the evolution of the automotive, the bus on which Rosa Park’s took her stand by refusing to give up her seat, and a variety of special exhibits. From race cars to microprocessors the exhibits at Henry Ford are designed to inspire, inform and engage visitors.
